Premium Times reports that the 36-year-old woman has been caught on several occasions molesting the young girl but she went too far with her recent attack on the teenager.

The victim, Hope David, had her beasts badly burnt because she refused to wake up early to do her house chores, and police sources say her boss, who is also being investigated for child abuse and trafficking offences by the national human rights commission and national agency for the prohibition of trafficking in persons, would be charged after concluding investigations.

Mrs Egbukole who resides in Minta 1 Estate, Lokogoma, Abuja is currently said to be facing child abuse and human trafficking charges by the police and National Human Rights Commission and National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP) after attacking her housemaid by pouring boiling water on her leaving the young girls’s breasts with severe injuries.

According to the Deputy Director, Protection and Investigations, National Human Rights Commission, Lambert Opara, Mrs. Egbukole initially denied the assault charges but later admitted the attack, claiming it was an accident  and that the victim was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment which was false as she only took her to a chemist that just wrapped plasters around the girls’s breast.

Mr Opara further alleged that Hope was trafficked to Abuja. According to him, she was brought to Mrs Egbukole by a pastor who usually supplied girls from Nasarawa State to Abuja residents seeking house helps.

It was also gathered from neighbors that Mrs. Egbukole was a notorious child abuser who repeatedly attacked Hope with dangerous objects including rods and had even injured Hope in the head with a curtain rail a day before the incident.

The Abuja police spokesperson, Manzah Adjuguri, who confirmed the incident said Mrs. Egbukole claims that the pastor who brought Hope from Nasarawa was her uncle. He assured the matter will be charged after investigation and that the command was still in touch with Hope, who is currently recovering under the custody of NAPTIP. The spokesperson of NAPTIP, Joshua Emerole, said Hope would remain under the agency’s care until the end of the investigation and that Mrs Egbukole faces other charges including the violation of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act, 2015. Police said Egbukole would be charged after investigations are concluded.
