
The Federal High Court, Ikoyi had yesterday convicted one Nwosu Chinedu Joseph over involvement in unlawful importation of 1.295 kilograms of cocaine.
Chinedu was dragged before the court by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on a count-charge of unlawful importation of the said banned drug and was sentenced to four years imprison by a Federal High Court sitting at Ikoyi, Lagos, presided over by Justice Hadizat Rabiu-Shagari.
Prior to the judgment of the court, the NDLEA in its charge, contended that Chinedu had imported 1.295 kilograms of cocaine on October 30, 2016, during the inward clearance of Royal Air Morocs flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Lagos via Casablanca, at “D” Arrival Hall of Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, without lawful authority.
According to the NDLEA, the offence contravenes section 11(a) of the NDLEA Act Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and punishable under the same Act.
