The Federal High Court,  Ikoyi had yesterday convicted one Nwosu Chinedu Joseph over involvement in un­lawful importation of 1.295 kilograms of co­caine.

Chinedu was dragged be­fore the court by the Na­tional Drugs Law Enforce­ment Agency (NDLEA), on a count-charge of un­lawful importation of the said banned drug and was sentenced to four years imprison by a Federal High Court sitting at Ikoyi, Lagos, presided over by Justice Hadizat Rabiu-Shagari.
Prior to the judgment of the court, the NDLEA in its charge, contended that Chinedu had im­ported 1.295 kilograms of cocaine on October 30, 2016, during the inward clearance of Royal Air Morocs flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Lagos via Casablanca, at “D” Arrival Hall of Murtala Muham­mad International Air­port, Ikeja, Lagos, with­out lawful authority.
According to the NDLEA, the offence con­travenes section 11(a) of the NDLEA Act Cap. N30, Laws of the Fed­eration of Nigeria, 2004, and punishable under the same Act.
