The South African President, Mr Jacob Zuma will on today morning visit the Garden Route where devastating fires have wreaked havoc.

In Knysna alone, seven people were killed and more than 400 structures were destroyed.
Other towns such as Buffels Bay, George and Plettenberg Bay were also severely affected by raging fires that were fanned by a gale force wind.

Presidential spokesperson Bongani Ngqulunga says the president dispatched humanitarian support to the affected areas last week.

Ngqulunga says Zuma will be accompanied by a number of cabinet ministers and deputy ministers.

Western Cape provincial ministers and national Co-operative Governance Minister Des van Rooyen visited the area on Thursday, SABC reports.
