THE colours of the national flag of Zimbabwe were sported by pupils of St Mary’s Primary School, Chiddingfold, for its fundraising Africa Day event.

“The children dressed in the colours of the Zimbabwe flag: red, black, green and yellow and made a contribution to Zane Kids which supports a number of projects in Zimbabwe,” school business manager Yvette Oqvist said.

“They thought about the lives of children in Zimbabwe, the second poorest country in the world, and were very happy to help raise money for projects such as pop-up classrooms in townships and funding teaching.

“It was a thought-provoking day. Pupils gained an understanding of, and empathised with, children much less fortunate.”
