Mr Oshodi Agboola, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Osogbo, has urged the Nigerian Police officers to desist from torturing suspects in police custody.
Agboola issued this warning on Tuesday in Akure the Ondo state capital while addressing officers and men of the Ondo Police Command at the State Headquarters in Alagbaka.
He expressed that it was against human rights to torture suspects, no matter their offence.
“Don’t use force on anybody you should protect the rights of Nigerians. Also you should avoid accidental discharge.
“I also want to warn you that you should not torture any suspect in your custody and you should also manage the information given to you,” he said
