The Joint Task Force (JTF) under Operation Delta Safe has rescued two kidnapped persons who were abducted last two months on the waterways. They were on their way to Oluasiri in Brass local government area of Bayelsa State when the incident occurred.

Briefing newsmen yesterday in Yenagoa, the Commander of Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Apochi Suleiman said they were determined to rid the waterways of all the criminal activities.
He said the troops made the progress following a successful raid operation on the identified camps of the various sea pirates in the area. He called on the federal government to give them more support to ensure that social economy is achieved.
According to him, “Our troops conducted successful raid operations on identified camps of sea robbers/ pirates and kidnappers at Oluasiri and Agbidama creeks in Brass and Ekeremor local government areas of Bayelsa State respectively.
“During the operations in Oluasiri particularly, the troops rescued two kidnapped victims. One of the victims sustained gunshot injury during the crossfire with pirates and is currently receiving medical attention in one of our facilities in Port Harcourt. He is currently recuperating.”
Narrating his experience in the hands of the kidnappers, one of the victims who is still in the custody of the Operation Delta Safe, Suleiman Yinusa, expressed gratitude to God and the troops who rescued him, saying he never knew he would still be alive to narrate his story after staying at the kidnapper’s den for 50 days.
Yinusa who hails from Katsina State said he was going back from Abonema to Soku, all in Rivers State after buying goods from Aba, but about six of them on board were abducted on the waterways by the sea pirates, stating that they were beaten mercilessly and taken to a hideout, while their eyes were tied.
