The Kaduna State Govern­ment has announced a   ban on street hawking and begging as well as affirming commercial motorcycle activities in the state capital and other urban centres in the state.

This was the outcome of resolu­tions reached at the State Security Council meeting held at Govern­ment House, Kaduna.
The special assistant to the governor on Media, Samuel Aruwan, while briefing the media, said the decision was to maintain law and order in the state based on credible intelligence re­port of security threat to lives and properties.
He explained that the ban was with immediate effect and remains in force till further notice and therefore urged the citizens to re­main law abiding in compliance with the government directive.
It would be recalled that the state government had last year banned beggars and hawkers from operating in the state.
The ban which generated con­troversies, resulted in violent protests by the affected parties. Though the implementation was scheduled for September last year, it could not take off until now. As at the time of filing this report, there was no reaction from any quarters.
