With the increasing rate of inflation and recession in the country, Nigerians are forced to ask if the politicians are affected by the economic situation of the nation.

Nigerian political leaders have come under fire after their huge pension benefits were revealed by popular media houses in the country.

According to the Vanguard, 47 former Governors and their deputies from 21 states of the federation received N37.367 billion.

With the amount they receive monthly despite the economic situation, it can be rightly said that the recession do not affect all Nigerians. For example, Senators other public office holders and representatives, are presently benefiting their salaries, allowances, pension as military personnel and pension as former governors.

Let’s then as aloud; are our politicians not milking the country dry?

There is a need for laws to limit public ex-governors from contesting or becoming senators. If Nigeria wants to practice  democracy, it should be practiced properly.

Receiving pension and salary from the same organization is fraudulence.
