OLISEH SUCCEEDS SITTARD

Fortuna Sittard have announced that Sunday Oliseh has been appointed as the club’s new manager, Today reports.

The former Nigeria coach has succeeded Ben van Dael at Fortuna Sittard Stadium, having earned just five wins from 19 games this season.

“With Sunday chooses Fortuna for a coach who is young and ambitious, vision and where players look up to,” announced owner Isitan Gün via club website.

“We were looking for someone attractive football combined with the sheer will to win. In Sunday we think we found this trainer.

“The past few days he has already watched all the matches of Fortuna, so Sunday January 2 well prepared to begin his work.”

Fortuna are 18th on the Dutch second division log with 15 points from 19 matches and will tackle Achilles 29 in their next game on January 13, 2017.

Oliseh resigned as the Super Eagles coach just after seven months in the position after his appointment in July 2015 according to News24.

Announcing his resignation on twitter, the former Super Eagles captain said he took the decision “due to Contract violations, lack of Support, Unpaid wages, Benefits to my players, Asst. Coaches & myself.”
